Patti Ruth Weems

Patti Ruth Weems was born in Miami, Oklahoma on May 22, 1929 and went to be with Jesus on November 3, 2023 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her Husband Jack Weems, Mother Ruth Lahoma Long, Father Jimmie Long and Grandson Chris Weems.

Survived by her two sons, Jack Benson & Michelle Weems of Caddo, Oklahoma and Wylan Adrian Weems of San Antonio, Texas. Three grandchildren, Rainy Morehead, Shaney Weems and Tristan Weems and numerous great grandchildren, family and friends.

As a child and teenager, Patti and her family traveled and lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming. However, Oklahoma was always home.

She graduated from Lander Wyoming in 1946 and moved back to Shawnee, Oklahoma with her Mother and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She later went on to receive her Registered Nursing degree from St. John’s in Tulsa Oklahoma. During that time, she met Jack Weems, feel in love and they married in 1950. They established a home in Asher Oklahoma and in 1953 were blessed with the birth of their first son, Jack Benson Weems. In 1954 they moved to Seminole Oklahoma, and were blessed with their second son Wylan Adrian Weems III in 1965.

Patti joined Ideal Street Baptist Church shortly after arriving in Seminole in 1954 and remained a member for 60 years. She has left a legacy at that church by investing her life in others. Soul salvation was her main focus. She loved people and there are many examples of people today, who’s spiritual walk with God was influenced by her in a positive manner. She was either teaching Sunday School, working with the nursery, or many other outreach programs like Vacation Bible School, Falls Creek or supporting our Military abroad.

She was always involved and supportive within the lives of her husband and two boys. From transitioning from a City Slicker to a Cowgirl in the Seminole Round Up Club, or getting up at 5 am to help feed the show bull (ZORO) for 4H, or playing taxi to and from sporting events or piano lessons. She was always there in the good times and the tough times.

Patti was an exceptional role model as a wife, mother and friend. All though our hearts are broken at her passing, we have faith that we will see her again in the presence of God Almighty the maker of Heaven and Earth.

A visitation for Patti will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral will occur Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A committal will occur Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801.
