Joyce graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1946. Joyce retired from Southwestern Bell/ AT&T as an Operator after 35 years and volunteered at Unity Hospital for 13 years. On August 6, 1949, Joyce married the love of her life, Stelza H. Wood and together they had 3 children: Gary, David, and Melody.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Stelza H. Wood, son David Wayne Wood, parents Euin Robert Casteel and Edith Pearl (Billings) Casteel, sister Nadine Hensley, brother-in-laws Robert Green and Gerald Hensley, grandson Dustin Wood, and niece Janice Hensley.
Joyce was survived by son Gary Don Wood (Sharron) of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, daughter Melody Ann Gunter (Rick) of Shawnee, Oklahoma, sister Sandra Green, grandchildren Danni McCollum (Josh), Amanda Orso, and Richard Gunter, great grandchild Emma Orso, Nephews Rusty Hensley and Billy Green, and Nieces Holly West and Kelly Chesser.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma with Keith Ward officiating.
