He was born Feb. 7, 1940, to Thelma (Booth) and Lozier Berry Sr.
Jerry was formerly a youth minister at Trinity Baptist Church and also founded a church bus ministry.
Through Abiding in Christ ministry, Jerry was able to help clothe and feed many of the homeless in the Shawnee community.
He owned Berry’s Upholstery for more than 40 years and was an upholstery instructor at Gordon Cooper for 14 years. He is an OU fan. Jerry enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.
He retired Feb. 7, 2000, after 26 years in the National Guard as Sergeant First Class.
He is a loving family man that spoils his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons Jeffrey Lynn Berry and James Gregory Berry; three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include daughter Virginia Berry Roberson and husband Billy; stepchildren Rebecca and Bobby James and Curtis and Dema Parker; grandchildren Jeffery, Valerie, and Gregory Berry, Hope, Madison, and Hunter Roberson, Courtney and Harlee Carico, and Gage Crook; his sister, VaLera Nevin; sister-in-law, Maurine Berry; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations may be made in care of Jerry Berry at 37605 Old Hwy 270 Shawnee, OK 74804.Arrangements under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, OK.
