On Friday, September 6, 2024, Edward Isaac Ailey of Harrah, Oklahoma, passed away from this life and went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 87 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born on May 17, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Isaac Ailey and Cora (Hembree) Ailey. He was raised in the Musson Community and attended Musson and Shawnee schools. Edward married the love of his life Carol (McFarland) Ailey on January 21, 1957. Edward joined the Navy in 1956 until he was honorably discharged in 1960. Edward liked to send letters home to Carol that he would write backwards, so she would have to hold them up in front of the mirror to read them. Edward was a very hard worker and did many jobs to support his family. He became an Oklahoma City Police Officer in 1969 where he loved doing motorcycle patrol. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and served in the Honor Guard. Edward retired in 1987 from the warrant office. After his retirement, Edward opened Ed’s BBQ in Harrah, where he worked for several years. He was very actively involved with all his grandchildren and their activities. He even had a baseball field named in his honor. He enjoyed leather working, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, and being a member of the Santa Fe Gun-Fighters. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; his parents Isaac and Cora; and 4 brothers, Roy Ailey, Harold Ailey, Eldon Ailey, and Earl Ailey. Those left to cherish and honor his memories are his 3 daughters, Cindy Quinn, Tammy Ailey, and Linda Hagle; Grandchildren, Amanda (Doyle) Black, Justin (Michelle) Hagle, Latrisha Hagle, Devan (Jessica) Ailey, and Kyle (Sarah) Hagle; Great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Lillie, Isaac, Jazmine, Edward, and Doyle; and numerous other family and dear friends. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Brother Clint Dawkins officiating. A burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
A visitation for Edward will be held Monday, September 9, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A committal service will occur Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Resthaven Memorial Park, 16006 S Rock Creek Rd, Shawnee, OK 74801.
