Charley A. Barnett, 82, left this life on March 26th. Charley was born in Macomb, Oklahoma on January 9, 1936, the son of Riley and Ola (Rider) Barnett. Charley lived most of his life in Shawnee. He loved his family, farming and was excellent at welding and doing dirt work. He also loved bluegrass music and spending time with others who shared that love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Ola Barnett, wife of 31 years Mary (Sanders) Barnett, sisters, Elsie Coley, Delcie Folks, Juanita Gentry, Laura Davis, Naomi Winsett, Ester Carter, Ruby Lovette, Norma Carter, brothers, Rayford Barnett, Austin Barnett, Connie Barnett, JD Barnett and William Barnett.
Charley’s survivors include one sister, Mary Murel Dwight, four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Wayne Snider, Carla and John York, Alayne and Randy Allen, Jennifer and Chris Toney, seven grandchildren, Charlee Snider, Sidney Snider, Macy O’Rork, John Allen York, Bray Toney, Stella Toney, Bellamy Toney and eight great grandchildren: Ty, Aliya, Riley, Kaedin, Abel, Liam, John Blake, and Jenna, numerous nieces and nephews and friends, also a very special friend, Donna White.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, March 30th at Resthaven Shawnee. Graveside service will be 2pm, Saturday, March 31st at Resthaven Memorial Park with Garland Blocker officiating.
A celebration of Life will be April 21st at Sharon Baptist Church Shawnee from 2 to 4 pm. Contact Donna White for information.
