Bill was born on January 26, 1927 in McCloud, Oklahoma, to Nancy McDaniel Harlin and Arthur W. Harlin.
He was raised and attended school in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947 and received the World War II Victory Medal.
A welder by trade, he worked in the Oklahoma oil fields and various businesses in Oklahoma and Minnesota. He worked at S&S Feed in Shawnee for a number of years before moving to Florida in 1989.
Bill and Helen relocated to a small farm in McEwen, Tennessee in 2015, to be close to family.
Bill’s lifelong passion was farming and raising cattle. He would rise early in the morning and stay up late to take care of his farm and cattle while still working a full-time welding job.
Mr. Harlin is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; daughter, Connie Harlin (Stuart) Murray of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; granddaughter, Sandy (Greg) Draper of Lebanon, Tennessee; grandson, Richard Rogers of California and 4 great grandchildren, Nina, Dominic, Sophia and Lilly Rogers of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Anna Margaret Dibler of Dallas, Texas; brother, Johnny Fred Harlin of Justin, Texas and sister, Emma Laura (Larry) Chapman of Arlington, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harlin is also survived by 5 stepchildren; Randall Farris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jimmy (DeAnn) Farris of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Philip (Laura) Farris of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Diane (Terry) Fox of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Kelly (Melodie) Farris of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceeded in death by his sister, Essie Marie Harlin; brother, Wallace Ray “Red” Harlin; sister, Gladys Harlin Eggleston; and sister, Jessie Harlin.
The family is forever grateful to a wonderful friend and neighbor, Tommy Forester, who was always there with love and support.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday, September 18th at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
