Mr. Hahn was born October 28, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Victor George Hahn and Irene Ballar Hahn. He graduated Lincoln High School in Ferndale, Michigan in 1947 and continued his education at Michigan State College, graduating the School of Business with a Bachelor of Arts in 1951. After college Mr. Hahn joined the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean War. He retired from Otis Elevator Company in 1987. After retirement he and his wife moved to Sunset Beach, North Carolina where they enjoyed living by the coast. Mr. Hahn attended Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was one of the founding members. He held various positions in the church such as Elder Treasurer of the church, a member of the Finance Committee, Building Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Worship Committee, and Fellowship Committee. He was also a Mason in Minnesota and moved his membership to Calabash Masonic Lodge, a member of Calabash Elks, American Legion, and Presbyterian Men's Group. He enjoyed volunteering at Providence Home assisting with their finances and rebuilding. Mr. Hahn and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and visiting Disney World, where they stayed two months of the year. They visited Canada, Mexico, and all states in between. Visiting his children and grandchildren brought him much joy. He also enjoyed golfing with Sea Trail Men's group and the Duffer's group. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Miller, nephew, Scott Miller, and daughter in law, Peggy Hahn, and grandson, Jason Swearingin.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Diane Hahn of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; three children, Michael Hahn of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Pamela Swearingin of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, and David Hahn and wife Jennifer of Katy, Texas; sister-in-law, Suzanne Baer of Gaylord, Michigan; five grandchildren who loved to call him "Cookie Monster," Mark Swearingin, II, Sara Dawson and husband Joe, Jonathan Hahn, Victor Hahn, Sarah Hahn; four great grandchildren, Mark Swearingin, III, Isabella Dawson, Amelia Dawson, and Enzo Dawson; three nephews, Craig Miller, Victor Miller, and Christopher Baer; one niece, Kimberlee Trombley; three great nieces, Amanda, Robin, and Lindsey; one great nephew, Adam; and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
