He was born in Ohio on April 4, 1938 the son of the late Stanley and Grace Buckner.
He was raised in Michigan, Ken was educated at the University of Michigan and graduated with honors from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in California. He also studied fine art for a year in the student room of the British Museum in London.
He worked for large ad agencies in New York and Los Angeles, worked in film, and was an illustrator before turning to fine art.
In 1976 he moved to the coast of North Carolina from Connecticut, built a studio and an art gallery and offered his beach photos as prints for framing. The public response was immediate and enthusiastic and the popularity of Ken’s photography persists today.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Faye Creech; a brother, Bob Wedneski of Michigan; a sister, Nona Wright of Arizona.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
