Jimmy was born November 25, 1939 in Selma, North Carolina, son of the late John A. Bryant and Alice Wargo. He graduated from Western Carolina University where he enjoyed playing baseball and football. He and his wife Irene raised their family in Fayetteville until they relocated to the coast over 30 years ago when he retired from North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending endless amounts of time in his garage "just piddling." One of his favorite pastimes was meeting his breakfast buddies at Hardee's to catch up on the daily news. He was always a fighter, even through the seven years of declining health. He attended Camp United Methodist Church with his dear wife of 64 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Bryant; brothers, Dwight Bryant and Horace Bryant; sisters, Helen Bryant Algood and Peggy Bryant Person.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Bryant of Shallotte; daughter, Kim Bryant McLean and husband Hugh of Youngsville, North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Kay Bryant of Oak Island; four grandchildren, Tory Johnson and husband Greg, Chase McLean and fiance' Natasha, Morgan McLean Norwood and husband Ty, and Caroline Bryant; four great grandchildren, Caroline Grace Johnson, Michael Johnson, Olivia Norwood, and Brooks Norwood; several nieces and nephews, especially Brenda Algood and Lisa Algood; and special friend Phillip Johnson.
