Junior was born in new hanover County on January 7, 1952 and was the son of the late huey P. Hewett Sr. and Dorothy Blanchard Hewett. He was an avid deer hunter and gardener and especially enjoyed working with his grapevines. Mr. Hewett was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bolivia.
He is survived by his wife Terry Godwin Hewett of the home; two children, Travis Hewett and wife Lindsay of Supply and Kasey Abbott of Shallotte; nine grandchildren, Gabriel, Olivia, Garrison, Brydie Mae, Nolan, Farralyn, Avie Lee, Tillman and Leverett.
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 12, 2024 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
