He was born in Astoria, New York on February 10, 1935, and was the son of the late Maximillian and Elizabeth (Rowson) Jacobs.
Don was a man of great strength, intelligence, and a true optimist. There was hardly a day when Don was in a bad mood even though suffering with various ailments during the last few years of his life. He was very likeable and made friends with anyone he met. He had the art of conversation and would start a conversation with anyone and talk about anything. But his favorite subject was talking about his God, Jehovah, and the beautiful promise he has in store for mankind in the very near future. Don had strong faith in God’s promise of being resurrected on earth (John 5:28) and he demonstrated his faith right up to the end. He will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Dolores Jacobs who was the love of his life.
He is also survived by his four children Linda DiDonato and husband, Joseph of Milford, Pa; Donald Jacobs, Jr. of Shohola, Pa; Karen Markey and husband, Thomas of Lake Ariel, Pa and Kevin Jacobs and wife, Rebecca of Port Jervis, NY; a brother, Herbert Jacobs of Lighthouse Point, FL and sister-in-law, Barbara Burke, of Boca Raton, FL. Also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Denton and husband, Richard; Emily DeBree and husband Timothy Biggins, a great-grandson, Finley DeBree along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ronald Burke and sister-in-law, Lynn Jacobs.
His family wishes to thank the Shallotte Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for their loving help throughout Don’s various illnesses. Also, thank you to the staff at Cape Fear Hospice for the care they provided for Don.
