Stancik Sr., Thomas W. 73, of Seminole, Florida passed away January 18, 2022 at Suncoast Hospice in Largo. He was born May 12, 1948 in Wilkes- Barre, PA to Frank Sr. and Stella Stancik. Tom graduated from Thomas Edison High School, Queens, NY. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Ranger and USS Saratoga from 1968 – 1971 RVAH 1. He married Mary E. Wincler (Ashley, PA) in May 1974 and resided in Plains, Pa until relocating to Seminole, Fl. Tom was a graduate of Kings College then Marywood University where he received his Masters Degree in Social Work. He was employed at the Willkes- Barre VAMC then retired at the Baypines VAMC in St. Petersburg, FL where he followed his passion of counseling combat Veterans and their families for over 25 years.
Tom had many interests in life. He was active in the Polish American Veterans club Hudson, Pa., a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, and other veteran charities. He was a member of the Susquehanna River Bassmasters and fished the Redman Bass Fishing circuit for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter in Pennsylvania and Georgia with his son, brothers and close friends. He was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, and Tampa Bay Lightning which he attended many games with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary and his oldest brother, Bob. He is survived by his son, Thomas Jr. and wife (Melissa), grandsons, Caydan (6) and Brycen (4), his daughter, Adina and husband (John), grandchildren, Kenley (9) and Brennan (18) of Seminole, FL, his sister, Dolores and husband (Edmund) of Plains, Pa, his brother, Frank Jr. of Shavertown, Pa and sister Sandra of Scranton, Pa along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
