Dr. Philip J. Congilose Sr., 81, of Secaucus, NJ, formerly of Jersey City, NJ entered into rest on Wednesday January 6, 2016. Beloved husband of Delphine (nee Cariello) Congilose. Devoted father of Philip J. Congilose Jr., and the late Gary Peter Congilose. Loving grandfather of Bryan Philip Congilose. Dear brother of Margaret Powell and her late husband Frank and Nanette Craig and her late husband Roger. Phil is also survived by many nieces & nephews. Phil attended Panzer College and received a BA Degree in Physical Education, he attended Montclair State University receiving a Master’s Degree in Education and attended Teachers College –Columbia University receiving his Doctorate in Education. Phil coached baseball for 17 years at Mountain High and West Orange High, “The Finest Coach” in West Orange History. He won the State Championship in 1969 & 1971. Phil also won a State Championship while coaching in Kentucky in 1958. In 1989 Phil was elected to the Dickinson High School Hall of Fame, he was also a member of the Minor League Baseball Alumni Association. Phil was also a Baseball Scout for the Washington Senators & St. Louis Cardinals. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2PM to 6 PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, and Secaucus. The family will gather at the funeral home with their relatives and friends on Monday at 8:30 AM for a 9:30 AM funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Entombment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, Ft. Lee, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Philip may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
