Jean Elizabeth Maher

Jean Elizabeth Maher (nee Simermeyer) 85, of Secaucus, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, NY, New City, Rockland County, NY and Juno Beach -St Augustine, FL entered into rest on Tuesday April 14, 2015. Jean was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Frederick J. & Louise Simermeyer on July 8, 1929. Jean is pre-deceased by her husband, James J. Maher, her sons James B. Maher, Robert J. Maher Sr., her grandson Robert J. Maher Jr. and her brother Frederick J. Simermeyer. Jean is survived by her loving & devoted daughter Barbara J. Maher: grandchildren Jordan & Andrea Maher: great granddaughter Ava Raye Biase & daughter-in-law Lorraine Maher. Jean was the Matriarch of her family, she volunteered for 19 years at Meadowlands Hospital, she was a member of Great Kills Little League, St. Clare Mothers Club and a member of the Red Hat Society. Jean loved traveling, theatre, knitting, reading and doing sudoku. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-9PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus. The family will gather at the funeral home with their relatives and friends on Tuesday at 8:30 AM for a 9:30 AM funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus. Cremation will be Private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean Elizabeth may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
