On January 2, 2015, at 89 years old, Shirley D. Gorman passed peacefully away surrounded by family. Shirley was born on February 4, 1925, in Seattle to Dr. Robert and Nancybelle Dishman. She graduated from the Helen Bush School and attended Whitman College, where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and met the love of her life, William Gorman. Shirley and Bill were married September 4, 1946, and he was by her side for the next 68 years. Shirley has three loving daughters, Carolyn, Lael, and Kimberly. Shirley loved animals, especially dogs, and she was never without a German shepherd, schnauzer, or Bouvier (and, sometimes, even cats). Bill and Shirley spent much of their time in Leavenworth building, painting, and creating a warm and loving cabin on the Wenatchee River. Travel was very much a passion for her and Bill, and they traveled the world together, meeting new friends they would correspond with long after. Shirley was one of the founders of the Minnie Fortson Kirk Orthopedic Guild and remained active for many years. She was an avid gardener, landscaper, had a flair for flower arranging, which she did for charities and friends. Shirley was on the board of the Northwest Horticulture Society and a member of the Sunset Club. She is survived by her husband Bill, Lael Gorman ( Craig), Carolyn Prince (Keith), Kimberly Rodgers (Tom), and her grandchildren, Colin, Kevin, Blake, and Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert. Friends and family are invited to share memories and sign the online guest book at Acacia: www.acaciafuneralhome.com. A remembrance of her life will be held Wednesday February 18, 2015, at Skyline 725 9th Ave, Seattle WA 98104
