I am so grateful for my dear brother in the Lord, Robert.  He was so faithful and loving to the Oral Roberts Ministries.  I always enjoyed my phone conversations with him.  Psalm 116 says, Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. He is in Heaven now, but his works will go far beyond his life on this earth.  He has blessed many and I am forever grateful to him.  

I had the great honor, pleasure and enjoyment of working  and traveling in US and Europe with Bob during early E3-A.    Bob's engineering excellence was key to  making  E3-A great success.   We enjoyed the German food [schweinhocksen is his favorite]   and social together.   I'm proud to say Bob is my friend.
Bob,  you are a unique great great human being;  the best of all I have known; you are missed,  but never forgotten.    
Bob,  I have a last favor;  when you pass the  Lord's gate tell Ben to save a place for me with him and you.    Thank you for everything.

Bob loved food and enjoyed trying new things. We were having dinner together in Florida after an AWACS development flight and were going over the menu. He knew that I had lived in Florida for a number of years and he asked me to recommend a fish. I suggested two. He was unable to choose between the two so he ordered both- complete dinners! He once told me that he made ice cream sundaes in a mixing bowl. A great appetite and an equally great friend. Miss him.

I first met with Bob Allen when he visited our company in Ulm, Germany in the summer of 1996. He was already at an age when other people think about retiring. However, Bob's spirit was still young and curious. Later I spent substantial time to look over his shoulder, to see how he was analyzing recorded data and to listen to his comments. As a team leader of the then EADS MSI team I was pleased to see how well he worked with our team members some of which were young enough to serve as his grand kids. He was never shy to share his wisdom with us. We learned a lot from him. Sometimes we would come to his office on Monday morning when he told us that he had been waiting for us all weekend working on recordings that were made the week before. He made numerous suggestions to improve the system . 
He was one of the few Boeing people who would talk about the nature and environment in the Seattle area. He would give advise to visit interesting places. He would as well join us on excursions when he was in Germany. I specifically remember a visit to the medieval city of Nördlingen when he, already aged in his 70ties ,  was eager to walk the whole tour of the wall around the city up and down the narrow staircases. 
Bob will remain in our memory as the Spiritus rector of your cooperation with The Boeing Company.


Since 1998  my team and I have regularly worked with Bob on our AWACS & AEW&C tracking issues and he was the type of person to give us directions or ideas we haven't thought of. We spent many weeks together in our mini lab at Boeing analyzing recorded data and fixing problems. I remember him taking short naps at his workstation, but suddenly he would wake up , turn around, point to our screen and saying there's the problem. He usually was right. I remember him as a polite, helpful and positive thinking person. Take care Bob.

I am so sad to hear of Bob's passing. I worked with Bob at Boeing for many years and that continued while I worked as a NATO Civilian with the NATO AEW&C Force Command.  One of my recollections of Bob is from the old 2.01 Building. I remember every day I came into work Bob was already there. And when I left Bob was still there. Boeing was indeed Bob's life.  I also remember the many "lively" discussions Bob had with Ernie Alvarez, his good friend. Bob always had time to discuss things with me if I wanted to understand more about one of his AWACS tracker ideas. And for me, understanding tracker stuff was not easy! Rest In Peace Bob.

Bob was a kind soul who never said a harsh word as far as I can recall, and a good friend since I first met him one Saturday in the roof offices of the Boeing 2-01 building in 1982, I believe it must have been.  We all know of his intelligence and dedication so I need not describe it.
When Bob and I were supporting UK AWACS final testing at Waddington during the first gulf war we shared a rental car.  It was a manual transmission, thus having to be worked with the left hand, and he let me do all the driving, but I definitely appreciated his watchfulness for traffic coming from what were for me the wrong places.  Anyhow, this car had a cd player and I had brought various classical music that we listened to in it.  I remember that when we were listening to Mendelssohn’s Overture to the Hebrides and I said I thought it was one of the greatest orchestral pieces of all time (I mentioned that Brahms said of it that he wished he had written a piece half as good, and that I agreed with Brahms that he never had), he told me that he thought the classical pinnacle was reached by Vivaldi and with his Four Seasons.  Improvement beyond Vivaldi was not conceivable.  So, this is my imagining for his final music choice.  


I've work with and around Bob ("Mr. Tracker") since I hired on with Boeing in 1985.  I recall a "skip-level" management lunchtime roundtable, where a program-level manager would meet a dozen or so employees for an informal lunchtime discussion.  As we were going 'round the table introducing ourselves, I asked Bob if he had enough years of company service to allow him to drive his car into the building and park next to his desk.  His reply: "Almost."

He was a fixture around our workplace, and I've missed having him around.  My condolences to his family and friends.

We will miss Uncle Rob.  He had a brilliant mind and at the same time was a fun-loving soul.   What stories he had to share!  Kevin especially enjoyed long telephone conversations with him about physics, current events, days past, family history and his adventures all around the world.  Uncle Rob was also a fine photographer.  We enjoyed photos of his lovely flower garden, and we cherish the photos he took of his sister Sylvia when they were hiking in Washington State.  We are also fortunate to have memories of hiking with him.  He loved to point out many things along the way that we may otherwise have missed.  Uncle Rob was a wonderful uncle and a fine man!
