Patricia Lafferty

Patricia (Pat) Mary Lafferty passed away April 22, 2017 in Renton, WA at the age of "39". Pat was born December 16, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Florence (Pritch) Austin, the second oldest of four children.

As a child Pat would spend her summers at a lake near Windsor Ontario. Pat graduated from Saginaw High School in 1945. Pat married Keith Lafferty in a candlelight wedding ceremony on November 29, 1952. Pat wore a waltz length Chantilly lace gown, a fingertip length veil held by a matching lace over satin bonnet trimmed with seed pearls. In 1959 Keith and Pat moved to Seattle, WA.

A stay at home mom while raising their six children, Pat would spend her days cooking and baking. It was a regular occurrence for her children to arrive home from school to the smell of freshly baked bread.

Pat started work at Seattle Pacific University in their cafeteria in 1976 and worked there until she retired in 1993. While at SPU Pat and Keith opened their home to many college students that were in need of a place to stay.

In their retirement years Keith and Pat were full time RV`ers and traveled the country to visit family and friends. Based out of Black Diamond, WA some of their favorite destinations were North Dakota, Michigan, Shipshewana, IN and everywhere in between. Pat was an avid Mariners fan, and enjoyed following the team over the years.

One of Pat's favorite sayings was "Love is reflected in love". This is how Pat lived her life. She was a kind and gentle soul who went out of her way to make sure that others were cared for.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Keith Lafferty, parents George and Florence Austin, brothers Grover Austin, Keith Austin, and Jerry Austin, daughter Heather Ann Lafferty, and Golden Lab Bailey.

Pat is survived by five children, son Jacques Lafferty of Black Diamond, WA, daughter Nee Qua Lafferty and her husband Sean King of Renton WA, son Rene Lafferty and his wife Debbie of Mandan ND, daughter Kerrie and her husband Todd Hope of Renton WA, son Aaron Lafferty and his partner Josh Rheaume of Seattle WA, six grand children Austin Lafferty, Mandan ND, Heather Hope, Renton WA, Cole Lafferty, Mandan, ND, Brandii Hope, Renton WA, Georgia Hope, Renton WA, and Ayman King, Renton, WA.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday April 29, 2017 1:00 pm, at Palisade, in the Orchid Room, located at 2601 West Marina Place, Seattle WA.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics, Medic One, or an act of kindness for someone in need.
