because of you,i yearn for existence
because of you, 'til my life will end, i hope you realize, there's no one else i long for
just simply ask my heart, it's you forever more
because of you, i am full of gladness
Kundiman is the classic form of Filipino love song—or so it seemed to colonialist forces in the Philippines. In fact, in Kundiman, the singer who expresses undying love for his beloved is actually singing for love of country.
The world lost a beloved mother, Paraluman Villamor Fragada , on September 23, 2021 just shy of her 100th birthday. Lou (nanay)
passed away in her home surrounded by her children, Tony and Ray and nephew Alex. Lou was born in Batangas City, Batangas Philippines on November 19, 1921.
Her parents and Tomas and Maria Paz inspired her to excel with faithfilled dignity in daily life. Lou's rare internal and external beauty continues to produce deep smiles in those she befriended.
Lou was ninang (godmother) to many children.
Graduating from Batangas College she became a high school teacher in different provinces close to Batangas specializing in competitive team sports.
Lou's leadership skills gave her the ability to learn Japanese "on the fly" during the WW2 occupation. She actually taught her future husband, Remigio, how to drive.
As the wife of a Navy sailor, Lou took on many jobs to make ends meet - babysitting, house cleaning, seamstress. Eventually she worked over 20 years as a nutrition cook at Harbor and eventually Fred Hutchison.
Lou and Remigio (Ray Sr.) enjoyed their retiirement years traveling, cooling, dancing and taking care of their grandson Alex.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawn-seattle.com for the Fragada family.
