Mira Rashad

Mira Rashad (aka: Mary Alice Buchholz) passed away on Friday October 11, 2024 in Kirkland, WA. She was born in Mill Valley, CA and grew up in both Mill Valley and Seattle, WA. She is survived by three daughters, Maria Louise, Sonja Cecile and Daniele Theresa. Mira is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: James, Julia, Nathan, Cecilia, Tony, Tate, Aaron and Victor. Mira was a writer, legal secretary and a CNA, all of which she enjoyed, but most of all Mira loved being a mother.

Mira was quite adventurous and brave. She lived in Alaska for 10 years, a few of those years in a Yurt, and loved being in nature, hiking, backpacking and exploring all the natural wonders. Mira was very creative throughout her life writing many beautiful poems and stories, knitting and making stained glass decorations to name a few of her endeavors. Mira was a maverick ahead of her time, embracing many new ideas before they were mainstream. Mira was a devout Catholic as well as a practicing Buddhist. She will be dearly missed.

Mira’s funeral mass will be on Friday, November 8th at 11am at St. Theresa of Calcutta in Woodinville, WA.

She will be laid to rest at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
