She became a member of Holy Family Church of White Center in 1921 and was in the first graduating class of Holy Family Parish School. She was Miss White Center in 1933 and 1934 and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1934
Madeline G. Sertz married Bruce H. Williams in 1940 and had three children Bill, Mike and Janet. She is survived by her son Bill (Judith) Williams, daughter Janet (James) Dillow, daughters-in-law Betty Williams and Sue Ergish, five grandchildren, eight of her nine great grand children and one great great granddaughter.
She was a non-traditional working mother of the 1950’s. She was co-owner of Bruce Williams Insurance Agency of White Center. She later retired from Old National Bank.
She was a member of Puget Sound Fuchsia Society and had a passion for anything horticultural. She enjoyed playing traditional music on piano and organ.
She loved to talk – restaurant, grocery store, doctor’s office,-- she would strike up a conversation. What was intended to be a five minute phone call usually stretched 45 minutes to an hour.
She remained active – Friday was always hair, nails and lunch. Two weeks ago she helped can four boxes of peaches.
