Lucia Shiu Yee Young was born in Chung Shan, China, the third of seven children. In 1947 she married Elston Mon Wai Young in China and immigrated to Seattle the following year. Lucia and Elston ran one of the few Chinese restaurants located outside of Chinatown from 1952 until 1964. Lucia was a devoted mother and worked at a number of restaurants to help provide for her family until her retirement in the late 1980's. She loved to travel the world and enjoyed many trips to visit her family in China. During her retirement she especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. Lucia was predeceased by her husband in 2000. She is survived by her five children Evelyn (Frank) Tse, Edmond (Marjorie), Elaine (Stephen) Locke, Elvira (David) Fuller, Emeline (Mark) Whalon; grandchildren Jennifer (Nelson) Khov, Michael Tse, Melissa (Ben) Wharton, Timothy Locke, Luke Whalon; great grandchildren Kobe and Kara Khov. Lucia is also survived by a younger brother and younger sister in China and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held October 29, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Butterworth Funeral Home 520 W Raye St, Seattle. Private service and burial to follow. Donations to charities of your choice.
