Lois Neilson was born on August 22, 1934 in Port Gamble, Washington, to Julia Nordlund and Thomas McRoberts. She had a brother named Tommy. She graduated as a “Viking” from North Kitsap High School in 1953.
Lois met and fell in love with Carl Neilson. They were married on November 10, 1955. Lois was happy to mostly be a homemaker and mother to her three children, Rob, Sheri and Kathy. She was a fun and loving mother. She made sure that all holidays and birthdays were memorable. She loved and created family traditions; over-the-top Christmases and Easters. She nurtured and fostered lifelong intimate friendships. She was a gregarious sociable person and a gracious hostess. Lois loved to attend her daughter Sheri’s annual Kentucky Derby party, where people recognized her and called her “mom”. She liked to bowl and was on the Bulldogs team with her best friend Evelyn and her daughter Kathy and her daughter’s best friend Kathy. She was youthful and eclectic; she even liked a couple of songs off of her teen daughter’s Led Zeppelin album.
Two of Lois’s favorite activities were going out to lunch and shopping. You could find her either in the mall shopping or walking the mall. Mostly she loved to shop because she loved getting gifts for other people.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Carl, who passed away in 1989. And by her brother Tommy McRoberts.
She is survived by her three adored children: Rob (with Randi), Sheri and Kathy (with Ed).
Her love and legacy will live on in her 6 grandchildren: Jessica, Brady, Ashleigh, Terra, Dean and Alex;
And in her 4 great-grandkids: Lea, Bayleigh, Ashton, and Jackson.
Lois will be remembered as woman who was all about family; she was so proud of her kids and grandkids. She also was a woman with enduring, intimate friendships. Lois was a woman with a loving heart.
We will miss this woman, Lois. But we will treasure the memory of her deeply in our hearts. Forever.
