on February 25 1916. One of seven children. The family eventually
moved to a great farm in Addy, Washington with cows, chickens
and bee hives. One can only imagine that it was a wonderful place
to grow up.
After school he moved to Seattle to work in a shingle mill. He lived
with his Aunt and Uncle until it was finally suggested that he get his
own place to live. He moved into a house boat on Lake Union. One
night he and his friends went dancing and there Les met Jean Scott.
They courted and married in 1940. Les joined the Army Air Corps
and they moved to Hondo Texas where he was stationed to pilot
the student navigators.
After World War II and a daughter he and Jean moved back to
Seattle. He opened a Shell service station and they created a
family, Shawn and Les, Jr. and he lived in the family house for
over 60 years. Jean was president of the PTA. Les was Indian
Chief for Les, Jr. Dad built us go-carts, desks and a lighthouse
for the fourth grade class.
Jean passed away in 2001 and in 2003 Les married Betty
Adams. It was a very special wedding and they were a fine
couple. Betty brought along her terrific family of four children,
eight grand children and 3 great grandchildren. Dad loved them
all and, until Dad died July 26, 2011 there were some really
fine times.
Dad is survived by his wife Betty, his daughter Shawn, her
partner Kelly, his son Les, Jr. and his wife Rosanne. Les, Jr.
has two sons; Kirk married to Melissa and their four boys,
Wyatt, Ellis, Reid and Ross; and Chad married to Star with
their two daughters Abigail and Zoe; also, a brother Verne,
a sister Janice and a very special niece Cheryl.
A private committal service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park. Memorial service will be held 3pm Thursday, August 11, 2011 University Presbyterian Church 4540 15th Avenue, NE Seattle, WA 98105.
