Karen Jean Collins was born on July 20, 1939 in Portland, Oregon. She passed away on September 23, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. She is survived by her sons, Michael Hickey (Denney) and Kevin Hickey (Jodi), and three grandchildren, Kellen Hickey (Lindsay), Jack Hickey and Luke Hickey. She is also survived by her brothers William Knowles (Sally), and David Knowles (Patti), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Jack Collins, beloved sons Timothy and Sean Hickey, and her dear brother, Donald (Tommy) Knowles.
Karen graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Walla Walla, Washington and then attended nurses training at Sacred Heart in Spokane, Washington before beginning a distinguished 40 year career in the health care field as a nurse and later as an administrator. She obtained a Master’s Degree from Seattle University and eventually retired as the Chief Human Resource Officer at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington.
In 1994, Karen purchased a home in Chelan, Washington, where she later met Jack Collins, whom she married and they enjoyed many years together in her beloved Chelan. She made many close friends in Chelan, experienced many unforgettable memories with her grandchildren and other family members, and devoted countless volunteer hours for the benefit of Chelan causes, including improvements to Lake Chelan Hospital. She enjoyed her extensive flower gardens, a glass of Chardonnay, and spending time with her many friends and family.

A mass of Christian Burial for Karen will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00AM.
Services will ben held at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Chelan, WA.
