LT COL John William "Jack" Hayes, 92, of Seattle, died Sept. 1, 2021, at his Yarrow Point home. Jack was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Seattle to Russell S. and Mary W. Hayes.
He attended Garfield High School in Seattle and continued his education at the University of Washington.
As a US Air Force pilot, he flew B-29s and B-47s. During the Korean war he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Honorably discharged in 1955 he finished his education earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
He loved visiting family and friends, watching Huskies and Seahawks play football, and enjoyed attending air shows around the Northwest.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Weaver-Hayes of Renton, WA; son Randy Hayes, of Yarrow Point, daughter Linda Hayes-Gorman of Bend, Oregon and their spouses, Luna Hayes and Lawrence Gorman, and granddaughter Willow Hayes.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his first wife Peggy Hayes, their son John Russell Hayes, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
