Joanne Lee Jamison

She was born at home in Boyds, WA to the late Harriet and Henry Bailey. Joanne was the youngest of 6 children. She talked about going to school at the Omak Mission, Coeur d'Alene and she graduated in 1961 from Marcus High School.

At the age of 19, Joanne moved to Seattle, WA with her sister. It was in Seattle where she met the Late Lincoln (Buzzy) Jamison Jr. They had 3 children, Myrna, Brenda, and Jamey (Tuffy). Buzzy and Joanne were married by the justice of the peace in Seattle, WA.

Joanne learned to sew when the girls were young. She started making their pajamas. She then got a job at Skyway luggage in downtown Seattle where she made sleeping bags. After Jamey (Tuffy) was born the family moved to south Seattle. She was a stay at home Mom while the girls were in elementary school. After Buzzy's first heart attack Joanne got a job at JC Penney in the alterations shop. She eventually transferred to the Bon Marche, then Nordstroms & Fit-Rite Alternations. In 1981 Buzzy died and Joanne was left a widower with 3 children, Joanne was only 38 years old.

Boeing was hiring power sewing machine operators. The ladies at Fit-Rite Alternations not only encouraged her to apply but threatened to fill out her application for her, if she didn't apply. Joanne was soon hired at the Boeing Company. She expected to be in the upholstery department but was placed in the Blanket Shop where she worked with insulation. She also worked as a saw operator and retired as a mechanic.

Joanne was an incredible seamstress. She made Marlene's wedding, most of the brides maids dresses for Myrna, and loved making Pendleton vests and giving them to family and friends she felt deserving of a gift.

Joanne also loved to bowl. She started bowling back in the 70's with Agnes Boyce and Margie Jamison. They bowled for many years together and traveled to the Washington State Tournaments annually. Myrna & Barbie then joined them after turning 18. They began to travel to Reno & Las Vegas each year for the All Indian Bowling Tournaments where the Boyce and Jamison families would gather for annual family vacations.

Joanne is survived by daughter Myrna Jamison, daughter Brenda Jamison, & son Jamey (Tuffy)Jamison. Joanne had another daughter at a young age, Terrie Sanger. Joanne is survived by 4 Grandchildren Casey, Karlene, Jeremy & Jesse. She was proceeded in death by her Grandson Michael Roy Jamison. She had 5 Great-grandchildren, Blake, Clarissa, Lakiya, Naerella & Naima. Joanne loved all of her nieces and nephews.

Joanne had 2 Goddaughters, Lenee Edwards and Sheena Fornsby. Joanne cared about all children and through the years brought children into her home and offered them a place to stay. She was also known for buying shoes & clothing for kids she heard were in need.
