Jaquan K. Price passed away September 19, 2022 in Seattle, WA.
Jaquan K. Price was born March 2, 1988 to Valaria Mays and Kirk Price in Washington, DC. He was born two hours and 15 minutes before his baby brother Keon. Just imagine…. Two hour delay for twins? This should have been a sign that he would be a leader of great things. Jaquan was raised in Lakewood, WA by his mother Valaria and Dad, Marcus Mays. For schooling, Jaquan attended Dower elementary, Lochburn Middle school and graduated from Clover Park High school in 2006.
Growing up, Jaquan attended Mt. Tahoma Baptist church where he was baptized, a part of youth group, AWANA, and the vacation Bible school.
Jaquan always had a love for both sports and the dance. While in Middle School he wrestled, played basketball, ran track and field as well as dancing with Keon and friends every year at the talent shows. This love carried into high school where he continued dancing, wrestling, and track. With that, he was the ASB president and in competition choir and jazz where he served as a choreographer and singer.
After graduation, Jaquan followed his passion for dance with continuing his education at Highline Community College, starting Highline’s first hip hop dance team. If that wasn't enough, he also started coaching at Foster High school as Asst. Volleyball coach. After Foster he continued coaching at Garfield High School making his way up the ranks of coaching Volleyball and eventually becoming the Head coach for Garfield High and serving as an Asst. Coach for track and field.
After performing in a charity drag show with his twin at Western Washington University, he found his love for Drag. Winning on a weekly basis a competition at Neighbors Nightclub and eventually earning a spot as a cast member at Lashes at Rplace nightclub in Seattle. This is where he caught the entertainer La Saveona (La La). Jaquan participated in pageants and was crowned a former Ms. Gay California USA , former Le Femme international, Queen of all Bars Seattle and Miss Utopia in 2017. He also ran his Ms. And Mr. Community Pageant to give back to the community and also appeared in a Macklemore music video.
Jaquan was a ball full of energy, a bright light, and love.
Jaquan was a mentor to youth who struggled with their identity and their place within the LGTBQIA+ community. He was also a mentor to the young ladies he coached.
He leaves behind many different families (Biological & Drag) and communities who loved him. This loss will be felt forever. He had a huge impact on so many lives.
The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, mentorship, courage, and do whatever makes you genuinely happy!
