Helen died quietly in her sleep on Mar. 13, 2017 in Seattle at the age of 98. She was born on Oct. 20, 1918 in Hancock, WI to Irene Beyer and Emory Matthews. After graduating from Plummer High School in Idaho in 1938, Helen moved to Renton where she waitressed and worked for Boeing. During WWII, she built B-17 and B-29 engines. She married George Bigley in 1945 and together they enjoyed 40 years until his passing in 1995. Helen loved gardening, dancing, singing, traveling, a warm stove, SESSC friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, George and her sister, Esther Eager. Survived by her brother, Oscar Matthews; daughter, Linda; and son, George Bigley. Chapel services will be Fri., Mar. 24th at 1pm at Evergreen-Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle. Helen worked for peace so memorials may be made to UNICEF (800)367-5437.
