Frances was born to the late Hannah and Chester Cunegin, both deceased, on June 7, 1927 in Tuscaloosa Alabama. She was one of ten children born to this union. As a young woman, Mrs. Luster married Mr. James H. Luster and together they had four children and resided in Seattle Washington.
Her husband, James H. Luster, Sr., preceded Frances in death in 1995. Frances worked for 27 years with The Boeing Company and during that time also established the Luster Daycare and Luster’s Record store. She was an active member of First A.M.E. Church, joining in the early 1960’s, under the Rev. John Hurst Adams. At First AME, Sister Luster served as a Stewardess, was a Class Leader, a member of the Lay Organization and served in the Hospitality Ministry. Sister Luster loved working with the Annual Tea, which was held every February and served many years as the month of June chairperson. Whatever ministry Sister Luster was involved in, she served to the best of her ability. Perhaps her greatest love however, was the love she had for children. She loved and cared for many children which extended to her family but also to the children of her church, the children in her neighborhood, and the children that she cared for in her daycare. Mother Luster’s smile would brighten any room she entered and her love and kindness towards others will be remembered dearly by all those who knew her.
Mother Frances Luster leaves to cherish her memory, her Son James, Jr. (Leslie); Three Daughters Francine, Crystal, and Paula; Grandchildren Gayla, Ayesha Willoughby (William), George Smith (Tianna), James III, LaNiece, Arrous Williams Jr., Arrous and Franklin; Great Grandchildren Ja’Miyah, La’Von and Jaylne Smith; and many other family members and close friends both near and far.
