Davis “Dave” Ronald Chastain passed away on June 5th, at the age of 85, in his hometown of Seattle. Dave was a retired Electrical Engineer, who lived in many parts of the world in his life, from Washington DC, to Poulsbo, WA, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Kuwait, and the Philippines. He met his wife, Reiko, while stationed in Japan in the army. Dave and Reiko were married for 65 years. Dave is survived by his wife, his son, Davis (Amy), his granddaughter, Kalle, and many friends that were like family. Sadly, his other son Michael passed away in 2002. He was a warm and loving father and grandfather who loved to share his knowledge.
Dave was an avid woodworker, designing and producing furniture, lamps, toys, and kitchenware. He was a joker with a warm heart and was loved by many. He was an early adopter of electrical vehicles, buying the first Tesla model, and evangelized the merits of owning one. He was handy, and offered his help to many people whether it was putting in a new electrical service, a deck, custom cabinets, or other home improvements. He loved cats and hated onions. He had a great love of technology and also subscribed to the tenet that “more was better”. The world is a bit darker with his absence.
A casual Memorial Celebration will be held on Aug 19th from 1pm to 4 pm at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home and Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133.
