David Reid Dahlin, devoted husband and father, died peacefully at home on September 2, 2023 at the age of 86. David was born in Ironwood, Michigan to Clifford and Mildred Dahlin on December 24th, 1936.
After graduating from Ironwood High School in 1954, he briefly attended Michigan State University, before joining the US Air Force in 1956, eventually attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. While on active duty, he served in Vietnam. He later retired from Active duty to spend more time with his young family, and joined the Air Force Reserves, eventually serving a combined 40 years.
He married his loving and devoted wife Marcia Bertoluzza on June 14th, 1958, in San Angelo, Texas. The military took them to Alaska and then to Sacramento, where he spent most of his adult life.
While raising his family, he served as PTA President, Cubmaster, Little League coach, and YMCA Indian Guides leader.
Dave returned to college in his 30s and earned his B.A. in Economics from Sacramento State University. He later worked for the State of California as a disability analyst before retiring in 1999.
He and Marcia retired in the Boise, Idaho area where they loved to spend time overlooking the Snake River and enjoying the Idaho sunsets. After losing Marcia to cancer in 2016, he later relocated to Washington State to be closer to his surviving family.
Dave is survived by his brother Donald (Jeanne), sister Margaret, two sons Jeff (Nicola) and Scott, along with 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3111 Tierra De Dios Dr, EL Dorado Hills, CA 95762, on Friday September 29th at 11am.
