David passed away at the age of 66 on the evening of Saturday July 23rd, 2022 in Shoreline, Washington from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Arlington, Virginia on October 29th, 1955 to loving parents David Cook and Elizabeth Duff Cook.
He leaves behind his wife of 32 years Rachel Cook, his two daughters Bethany Cook Zylstra and Verity Cook, their partners John Zylstra and Jesús Bocanegra Linares, his newborn granddaughter Eliza Zylstra, his sister Marillyn Ketcherside, many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as his extensive and expertly curated library.
For many years he worked as a computer programmer and technician. He is remembered fondly for his great passion and enthusiasm for his many hobbies including model railroading, bowling and astronomy. He was an avid historian specializing in military history. He was a storyteller, pulling in everyone around to listen and laugh along with him. He was a compassionate man, always thinking of others and providing care to friends and family in need.
He will be dearly missed.
