Cynthia Kay LeBaron - loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to so many - died September 8, 2021, surrounded in her last days and hours by her loving husband, two daughters, and sons-in-law. She was 60. She battled non hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer the last 10 months, with her health declining rapidly the last few weeks.
Born December 12, 1960 the second oldest of four children to Kay Gerald Smith and Mardi Lurlene Smith, lived the last 23 years in Everett Washington, and was beloved by all who knew her.
Cynthia was born and raised in Sacramento, California. She graduated Mira Loma High School and lived life to the fullest as a teenager with many friends and lots of fun. She attended Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) and then Brigham Young University and loved the experiences, education and friends that she made there.
Cynthia met and married her sweetheart, Steven Ralph LeBaron, for time and all eternity in the Oakland California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on August 23, 1985. She worked as an office manager while Steve finished at the university and soon after graduation they started their life in Huntington Beach, California, where Steve worked at McDonnell Douglas. She loved the warm weather, the sun and beach. It was there they expanded their family through adoption of two darling girls, Mackenzie and then Brooklyn. Both were sealed to them in the San Diego Temple. A job relocation brought them to Everett, Washington in January 1998 where they raised their children in the beautiful Northwest.
Cynthia was a natural mother and homemaker and found such joy in this most important role. She loved being a mother, supporting Mackenzie in her High School marching band and Brooklyln in her swim team activities. She loved being a part of their lives. Cynthia made the best treats and meals, loved the holidays, and loved decorating and keeping her home. Cynthia loved parties, adventures, trips and vacations, especially if they included family, friends and the outdoors. She found great joy in inviting others to join in these activities. Above all, Cynthia loved being with Steve, especially as they became empty nesters. Her love for Steve was deep and obvious. Their respect and pure joy being with each other is a hallmark example of what is possible in marriage.
Cynthia’s faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ was paramount in her life from a young age until her last breath, and carried her through the good and challenging times of her life. She loved serving others. Her reach was great and many near and far have felt her unconditional love through kind words, hugs, gifts, treats, cards, and care. She also loved serving in formal church callings whether it be cub scouts, young womens, or working together with Steve planning and executing activities that would teach gospel principles through lessons, games and fun. Cynthia LeBaron was a woman full of faith, service, life, laughter, and love for all those fortunate to be within her influence.Cynthia believed in eternal families and that knowledge carried her through the challenging times of her sickness, and sustains those left behind.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her eternal companion, Steve; children Mackenzie (Martin), Brooklyn (Brandon); her parents, siblings and her large extended family of Smiths and LeBaron; as well as many friends.
