The Garden
If I should even have to leave,
Please don’t cry for me.
I’ll be sitting next to Jesus,
Writing poetry.
I will send my words back to earth
Written on the tips of hummingbird wings
And you will hear my heavenly thoughts,
Each time a hummingbird sings.
I’ll be working in the garden,
Side by side with Lucy and Gene,
And we will grow the tallest sunflowers
The Heaven has ever seen.
We will plant carrots and potatoes, lettuce, wheat and corn,
And you will see my likeness, each time a grandchild is born.
We will plant the garden full and tend it with a caring hoe.
I prayed for a lot of miracles but now I see it’s true,
The only miracle I ever needed was when God led me to you.
Tell the kids I’m very alive,
No need for them to despair.
Now they have their very own angel,
Watching over them, ever there.
And when it is your time to come,
OH! What a garden you’ll see.
And you won’t have to do any work,
just come sit in it with me.
