Annie George was born to the union of George Solomon Matthews and Annie Louise Tisinger on July 15, 1938 in Thomaston, Georgia. Both parents preceded her in death.
She moved to Seattle with her parents in 1946. She grew up in Highpoint and graduated from Highline Senior High School.
Annie George was married to Leon G. Grant for 32 years and had three daughters, Leigh Ann, Illume Leslie Fern and Melanie Lynn.
Annie George was an employee for the United States Postal Service. After earning her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Supervision and Management in Public Service, from South Seattle Community College, she became a supervisor with the United Postal Service. She retired on October 2, 1992 after 28 years of service to the Government of the United States.
She was a member of NARFE National Active and Retired Federal Employees. She was an active member of the Auburn Senior Center, Central Senior Center, and Kent Senior Center communities where she participated in lunches, dinners, attended classes and enjoyed trips with her many friends.
Annie was a loving, caring and generous woman. Annie enjoyed reading, traveling, and photography. She loved horses and elephants. She had a large collection of elephant statues from her travels. She was the family historian, collecting and taking pictures which she meticulous saved in detailed binders for her family to enjoy.
She is survived by her daughters, Leigh Ann Grant, Tustin, CA; Illume Leslie Fern Grant, Auburn WA; Melanie Lynn Grant, Yorba Linda, CA; grandchildren, Grant F. Johnson, Brian M. Grant (deceased), Gary B. Grant, Tizer L. Rhodes, Gregory C. Grant, and Todd Adams Jr.; great grandchildren, Chrystian, Davion, Bennett, Elyvia, Frederick, Anela, Gregory Jr, Brian Jr, Mckenna and Charleigh; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
