I had the privilege of being Alfredo’s Interpreter on two occasions at The MONA in LaConner. 
The first time I had dressed as Frida without knowing him or the fact she was his muse. 
When he saw me he just said: We’ll hello Frida, there you are..,
His accounts on his life’s experiences and how those related to his paintings. How he found his identity. How he always acknowledged Susanita as the love of his life. All precious. ✨

Our hearts are with you at this time of sorrow and challenge. We are heartened by memories of all our good times with you and Alfredo. Thank you for welcoming us into your lives. You and Alfredo introduced us to a new world filled with imagination, inspiration and exuberance. We'll miss Alfredo's laugh and warmth and his generosity, wisdom, humor, and throughtfulness, but we will continue to celebrate his legacy as a passionate lover of nature and humanity and as an extraordinary creative genius who has left the world with his wonderfully inticate and joyful art. We first met Alfredo over 30 years ago.  We fell in love with his beautiful art, but even more with his huge heart full of love and kindness.  May God's blessings be with your family.  Peace and Love.

I'm Very Sad to Hear of the Passing of My Friend and Artist Hero Alfredo Arreguin who's art changed my life as a young docent at the Tacoma Art Museum over 30 years ago.
I still remember seeing his art for the very first time. The Curator Suzy sent me to see it. The third floor gallery was tiny and dark. The Triptych, 3 life size panels took up the entire room. I stood  all alone in the 3rd Floor Gallery in front of his life sized Triptych "Sueno" and feeling as if I'd taken a hit of acid. I was mesmerized!
His art was just the GRooVIEST, prettiest, DEEPEST, most COLORFUL Art I'd EVER SEEN. I stood in front of it for many hours lost in his paintings looking to see hidden faces, animals and meanings he hid inside, always finding a new delight each time.I now know, "It brought out the Mexican in me."
Being in the presence of his paintings was Spiritual, Supernatural and TRANSFORMATIONAL to say the least. I will forever be Grateful to Alfredo, his art and his love for family and the Northwest Latinx Community.

It is very sad news. His work and life were the American Dream and he painted and lived it so well.  He will be missed and we are grateful for the legacy of his body of work.  We were honored that our paths crossed for an instant with the Maestro.

Alfredo was a larger than life force of nature. When I was attending the UW, I moved into the home of Alfredo, where I received a different kind of education. Often, in the evening, we would walk over to the original Red Robin, listen to the Beatles and Stones and drink beer. Then we would go home, smoke pot, and talk on into the night. Alfredo was so passionate about everything he did - love, family, memories, and above all his art. A few Years later I moved in to his new house, but only stayed a few months. I was there when he first developed his pattern art. Unfortunately, I did not maintain contact and only had a few brief encounters, while greatly admiring him and his art from afar.  But my year with Alfredo was a time of enchantment and awakening to life’s possibilities. Thank you Alfredo.

My heartfelt condolences to Susan and the extended Arreguin family. Publishing his enormously complex screen prints in the seventies was both difficult and an honor- we would sometimes argue but never angry- both with same goal- make good art . A one of a kind artist and wonderfully good man.
