James Hayden Brown AKA 'Bubba', 82 of Seaside CA passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2023, in the comfort of his home after battling lung cancer. Bubba was born in Palestine TX to the late Alvin and Ora Brown on July 17th, 1941. He relocated to Seaside CA in 1959 with his mother and siblings. Bubba would later go on to become the owner and operator of the famous Ebony lounge of Seaside for 25+ years. During this time he would participate in community outreach by providing annual Thanksgiving meals to those in need. Bubba also became a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed working on cars for family and friends.
Bubba was proceeded in death by 5 brothers, Lawrence K. Brown, Jimmy W. Clewis Sr., David E. Clewis and Rev. Gary L. Black Sr., 1 sister, Pat Brown-James and his youngest son, Lawrence Kent Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory; 1 brother; Billy Clewis, Stockton CA, 5 sisters; Shirley Seward, Seaside CA, Wilma Colins, Fairfield CA, Veneta Courtney, Columbia, SC, Donna Thomas, Santa Clarita, CA and Gail Hopkins, Dumfries, VA; 8 biological children, Sherri Brown-Hobson, James 'Little Bubba' Brown Jr, Jason Brown-Olivio, Alvin 'Buddy' Brown, Anthony 'TC' Brown, Phil Poole, OraKarooshia Brown-Ott, Waneshia Brown-Elmore and 5 additional children of whom he helped to raise; Cynthia, Allen.L, Dawnann, Clyde, Allen.S and many others, 25 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and family friends who will miss him dearly. Bubba was also an avid die heart Dallas Cowboy football fan to the very end.
