Rene J Barba Sr.

Born on May 4, 1943, in San Antonio, TX, Rene was the son of Monico Barba Sr. and Maria Jimenez.

Rene was happiest when spending quality time with his family and friends. He was deeply touched by the many visitors who came to see him in his final days. Rene’s presence, both in stature and spirit, was unforgettable. Standing tall in every sense, he was known for his larger-than-life personality and his big, warm smile.

Those who knew Rene will remember him for his wealth of stories, his thoughtful advice, and his honest opinions. Whether speaking with wisdom or humor, his words left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of listening.

Rene was preceded in death by his Father, Monico Barba Sr.; Mother, Maria Jimenez; Brothers, Robert Barba and Monico “Jr.” Barba; Sisters, Viola Barba, Felipa Barba, and Juanita Barba; and his Son, Ren “Chubby” Barba Jr.

He is survived by his beloved Wife, Ester Barba; Sister, Guadalupe “Aida” Barba; Children, Tammy and husband Hector Pina, Leticia and husband Fernando Gonzalez, Mary and husband Will Hill, Liz and husband Johnny Rios, Barbie Barba, Mark and wife Lori Davila; Grandchildren: Hector Pina Jr., Stephanie and husband Michael Reynolds, Kristofer Pina and wife Ashley Pecina, Fernando and wife Elena Gonzalez, Adrian Gonzalez, Brittany and husband Julio Zuniga, Samantha and husband Trino Lopez, Lauren Rios, Emilio Sereseroz, Jessica and husband Jason Martinez, Xavier Davila; 8 Great-Grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.

A visitation will be held for Rene on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with a committal service to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
