Linda Ann was born on July 16,1941 to Lois M. (Mathis) and J.T. Adams and lived with her younger brother, Johnny and sister, Marvis Sue on the farm in Combine. After graduating early from Seagoville High School in 1958, she attended Abilene Christian College from 1959 to 1962. Linda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962.
She would later pursue and receive her Masters in Early Childhood at East Tx State Univ. in 1985. She met Bobby Paul Reed in Kaufman in the Fall of 1962. A short engagement ensued, which included multiple trips by Bobby to Lubbock by way of Hobbs, NM to visit her while she began her teaching career educating 2nd graders. They married in Kaufman, Texas on August 10, 1963 and honeymooned on Galveston Beach. They had two children, Robyn Ann (Reed) born on May 16, 1966 and Russell Adams Reed on January 1, 1969. They built their first and forever home in 1968 on the family cotton farm on Rt. 2 in Combine.
They attended church at the Seagoville Church of Christ until 1972, when they moved to Kaufman Church of Christ to help start the JOY Bus ministry.She loved teaching bible class, and would later serve as Children's minister and on the board of Sonshine School.
Linda taught at Seagoville Elementary for a brief time, then stayed home with her kids until 1974. She began teaching kindergarten with Amy Noble at Crandall Elementary. Linda and Amy developed the plans for the Kindergarten Circus, a celebration of Crandall's Kindergarten students and a tradition that continues today in Crandall's five, soon to be six, elementary schools.
Furthermore, their partnership developed the foundation of FrogStreet Learning Materials that combined phonics and whole language acquisition. She went on to pioneer and promote Crandall's first T1 curriculum, until she retired from teaching in 2000 to grow FrogStreet full time. She returned to the classroom in 2003 to teach ESL for five more years. She returned again as a volunteer from 2013-16 to guide pullout reading students at Wilson elementary. Linda spent a total of 35 years in public education. In 2019, Crandall ISD honored Linda and her partner, Amy Noble by naming an elementary school after the two distinguished teachers.
After Bobby, her husband of 49 years, passed in 2012 and her health declined she started attending New River Church in Forney with family. Linda was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016, she moved in with her daughter. Robyn and her family. Even in her disease, she participated in efforts for research and development for a cure. Linda participated in projects with Baylor Scott and White Memory Center and University of Texas at Dallas to provide necessary data for the search for a cure to Alzheimer's disease.
Linda was PRECEDED in death by her husband, Bobby Paul and her parents. Linda is survived by her children: daughter. Robyn (Reed) Foster, her husband. Chris L. of Combine and son, Russell A. Reed, and wife. Lara (Zajic) of Combine. Grandchildren: C. Reed Foster, and wife. Taylor (Valvo) of Richland, Washington; H. Cain Foster, and wife Gabriella (Morales) of Combine; Sr. Airman Zachary A. Reed, USAF, and wife, Sr. Airman Getzey (Lloret) of FE1AFB, Cheyenne, Wyoming; M. Adams Foster, of Combine; Corporal Jakeb A. Reed, USMC of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Rylie A. Reed of Combine; and A'Miyah Foster of Combine. Great-granddaughters, Ellie Jay Foster and Elaina Clara Reed. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny M. Adams and wife. Polly (Taylor) of Kaufman; sister, Marvis Sue and husband, David Broom of Sachse; Brother-in-Law, Jimmy Reed of Kaufman. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Linda's family would like to thank you for attending her service today and for the sympathy and support you have shown our family through text, calls and an outpouring of love for our family. We feel at peace and are able to glorify the Lord in the midst of our sadness because of you. David's words remind us of the hope we have, "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever"
