The youngest of nine children born to Frank and Eva Olden on December 6, 1932. Gladys was raised in Coweta, Oklahoma where her family farmed near the Arkansas River. She attended Coweta High School where she was voted "Prettiest Blond".
Gladys met and fell in love with James Nathan Sanders "Jim" in 1954. They married January 3, 1955, making a home in Coweta for Gladys, Jim, and her son Calvin, then adding children Carol Ava, Katherine Louise, Linda Sue and James Gregory to the family. The family lost precious baby James at two months, which Gladys and Jim never recovered.
Jim, Gladys and their kids traveled all over Oklahoma with Jim building roads and Gladys raising kids. The family left beloved Oklahoma for Kleburg, Texas in 1970. Jim and Gladys were married 45 years until his death in May 22, 2000. He left Gladys to be cared for by Carol and kids. In September 2012, Gladys and Carol moved to Crandall to live with Steve and Linda. Gladys loved her new home and was content there the rest of her days.
To the family and many others she was Granny. She loved most of all to be with her kids, grands and greats. Momma/Granny will be remembered for making us laugh with her quiet humor and unexpected comments.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband Jim, her precious baby James and beloved grandson Chris Salazar. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Calvin Sanders, daughters, Carol Carrier, Katherine Bower (David), and Linda Coulter (Steve), ten grandchildren, Jamie Annen, Jerid Sizemore, Jay Sanders, Jill Stone, April Sanders, Patrick Carrier, David Bower III, Robert Carrier, Rachael LaRose and Callie Coulter, thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers gifts can be made to FBC Kaufman's Care Ministries for Mental Health.
