Garry N. Shubert Sr, of Crandall, Texas passed away on November 16 in Dallas, Texas. He will always be remembered as a caring father, an inspirational and helpful coach, a fun and compassionate friend, and a hard-working colleague to all that knew and loved him. He was born on May 31, 1957, in Memphis, Texas to Tollie J Shubert and Vivian Louise Jones.
Garry worked hard and was self-taught in mainframe IT work, hardware, and computer operations and used those skills at Exxon/Mobil and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He also coached Peewee football for Forney ISD, before moving on in his later years to coaching football for arena teams such as the Kaufman Crunch, Texas Heat, Dallas Diesel, and his last games were with the Dallas Prime. He’s always had a love of sports, which started with his football and bowling in high school and with the Garland Stars, as well as some softball with the Panthers for the Federal Reserve Bank. Fishing was always on his list of sports as well, enjoying trips to the lake with family and friends and some deep sea coastal fishing. His other interests ranged from war history to art galleries, and NASCAR to old westerns. He enjoyed painting model tanks and planes. In all the things he did, he was a talker and enjoyed having a good time with friends and with strangers he’d never met before. He never met someone he didn’t know.
Garry is survived by his brother, Kenneth Shubert of Dallas, Texas; his partner, Karen of Forney, Texas; and his children, Mary Shubert, Amanda Shubert, Crystal Shubert, Garry Shubert Jr., and Tiffany Galaz; as well as grandchildren, Lorynna, Austin, Harlee, Riley, and Danikah.
