Dave is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lori (Svrcek) Vaughan; 3 children: Brandy Quillen (Eric) of Heartland, Sheri Vaughan of Mesquite and Samantha Martinez (David Galvan) of Denton; 7 grandchildren: Daisy Barker, Lilly Barker, Bailey Quillen, James Price, Scarlett Martinez, Anthony Quillen and Sophia Galvan; his father, James Vaughan of Hope, AR and step-father, James Cox of Plano, TX; his siblings: James Vaughan (Sue), Leah Moore, Jamie Tracy (Matt), and Mitchell Vaughan (Nilam) and by a wide-reaching extended family.
Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cox, father in law, Johnny Svrcek; brother in law, Mark Svrcek; niece and nephews Maleah Svrcek, Corey Powell and Beau Oliver.
Dave’s favorite place was his backyard. He loved to garden and maintain its beauty. His favorite thing to do was host family parties, inviting everyone over to swim while he stood behind the grill for hours, with a drink in hand, and a smile on his face.
Dave had an immense and never ending amount of unconditional love for his family. He loved having his grandkids come over to visit. He was full of bad jokes and silly songs, which they all enjoyed.
He never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved to sit, tell stories and offer advice. “I’m just Dad, I have all this good advice and no one listens to me.”
This is not goodbye, as many of you know Dave had very strong faith. He believed in God. I know that he is at peace. Now it is our turn to go live life to the fullest and keep his legacy alive.
