Betty went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while visiting in Rockwall Texas on July 2, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born in Poynor, Tx to Thomas and Cora Hanna. She married Sam J. Parigi on January 13, 1951, in Beaumont, Texas and began their journey of life.
Betty is proceeded in death by her husband Sam, her parents Thomas and Cora, Brothers - Regan Hanna and Benny Hanna (Betty’s twin brother), and Sisters – Ruby Bizzell, Fayrene Dickerson and Katrena Reid. They are all celebrating their reunion with our heavenly Father.
Her Faith in God was exemplified through her love and dedication to her family as well as her friends. She was always a peace maker. One of the written instructions she left for her children was “Be honest, don’t lie, and ask God to guide you – He will see you through the storms. Love You, Mother”.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses Joan and Donald Deering, Angela and Allen Robinson and John and Lisa Parigi. Nine Grandchildren - Felicia Osborn (Russell), Andrea Sampson (Sammy), Albert Bennett (Julie), Jason Bennett (Alissa), Don Deering (Summer), Sam Parigi (Sarah), Sandi Bennett, Cora Bowers (Adam) and Anthony Parigi (Jordan). Twenty three Great grandchildren – Shelby, Mason, Morgan, Colton, Ava, Hanna, Blair, Baylee, Gage, Ella Claire, Lucy, Landry, Molly, Grace Anne, Landyn, Dylan, JP, Wade, Liam, Ayden, Tate, and Belle. As well as many in-laws, cousins, and dear friends.
At age 43 Betty decided to go back to school and in 1978 she received her Associates Degree in Business Administration. She used the education to assist Sam in his business and pursued a career as a medical office manager. She developed lifelong close friendships with several of her co-workers as she touched each with her beautiful smile, warm personality, kind words, genuine spirit and contagious laugh.
She loved to travel. When the kids were small Betty and Sam took them on several long road trips across the country. They visited friends and family in California, Canada, and Pennsylvania. When the kids grew up she and Sam began to travel more. They made several trips to Central Mexico. They also visited the Caribbean, Italy, Sicily, North Africa, Israel, and The Middle East. After Sam passed away she traveled with her sister Katrena and her friend Peggy to Japan, Hawaii and went on several cruises. She loved to dance and celebrated life.
About a year after her husband passed away, she became a social butterfly. She was living life to the fullest. She was an active member of the White Rock Newcomers Club, Senior Group at Church, St, Theresa Circle, Mesquite Garden club and numerous Bridge Clubs. She spent many fun filled hours with all of her friends, and loved them all dearly.
Betty loved to watch sports. This passion included watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participate in any competition or practice any talent they enjoyed. She loved all things Dallas. Anytime the Cowboys, Rangers, or Mavericks were playing you could find her in front of a television. This pastime will be missed by many of us who enjoyed her passion for the games and her companionship.
