I am sending this message from Mayo in Ireland. I am very sorry to learn of Thomas Patrick’s passing. My father Peter Henehan was a first cousin to Pat, Thomas father. My father grew up with Pat and always spoke very highly of him.  Pat and Jesse visited my parents on their last trip to Ireland and they shared  many memories. Both Pat and my father grew up in the same village in the west of Ireland and my grandmother and Pat’s father were brother and sister.
 I don’t wish to intrude but if any of the family are visiting Ireland in the near future I would love to meet with you .

Tom was a great person that everyone loved  it was a pleasure to know tom.

We always looked forward to Tom's summer visits. Something of great importance to Tom when he came here was to visit at the cemetery his mom and dad and grandparents. he would always bring flowers with him to place on their graves.
We visited twice with Tom and Carol. John and Tom would go driving. John was impressed how well Tom knew Phoenix and surrounding areas. One of these times when they got home they found  that they had locked themselves out
On our second visit Tom went with us to the Grand Canyon. Tom was leaning against the back fender of our car taking in the scenery. We were coming back from a closer look when John pressed the car remote starting the motor and opening the trunk without Tom knowing what was happening.  The remotes had just come into being. The look on his face was priceless.We did have a good laugh.
Then came the summer when Tom could no longer fly alone. We did miss him. Life is so short.

Uncle Tom was such an inspiration to me, he encouraged me to try my best and never give up on my aspirations.  My youngest son, Orson, looks a bit like him and I can only hope he grows up to be as accomplished and quick witted.
Uncle Tom always had stories to share, often when I came to the farm to visit my parents he would either phone or be visiting and regale me with the latest events.  We would discuss current events that he had read about in the paper or watched on the news and his ability to spin an entertaining story was admirable.  He showed great concern for my family and even warned me that my husband's bagpipes could possible cause 'bagpipe lung' illness due to a fungal growth as he had read about that leading to some unfortunate bloke's death.  He was better than the internet for filtering through masses of information to come up with a relevant gem that applied to my personal life.
Uncle Tom attended my wedding & my graduation and was such a gentleman, kind and considerate.  He had a lovely voice and was quite clever in his choice of words.  Sometimes I would glance over to see if he really had meant what he had just said and there would be a twinkle in his eye that told me he was just teasing.
I'll miss you Uncle Tom, may you rest in peace.

My dear brother, Tom.  I was always in awe of his mechanical abilities. He could fix anything that required skills that were far beyond my personal abilities.  He was not your typical machinery salesman who can talk but when things went wrong they were not to be found.   Tom would back up his promises with actual service which is why he was so successful.
Many fond memories of the cars he drove. His first car was a Prefect 1940 some vintage.  How he managed in Winnipeg in wintertime is truly a marvel. It was not long though that he progressed to a 1958 Oldsmobile with a huge motor. It would do wheelies and for a car of that size it was amazing.  He talked about putting a $10 bill on the dash, challenging his passenger to grab it before the car reached 60 mph and never loosing that $10.  I believe next he had a green Meteor (sort of a family car). The car that I loved and that he let me drive was a Charger, 2-door hardtop, just the kind a teenager would die for. And he actually let me use it on occasion. 
He also taught me to waterski and lent me his boat.  The list goes on and on...
Always an attentive listener and the best brother.  Well done, Tom, we will miss you.

Listening to Uncle Tom's stories was like drinking sparkling water from a crystal glass.  Both illuminating and refreshing.  Although I never heard him speak of his athletic accomplishments, as a young man he was quite the water-skier.  My dad Mickey (Tom's brother) recently took my sons out water-skiing on the same water skis Uncle Tom purchased while working in Saskatchewan, more than 50 years ago.  Uncle Tom had a boat to go with the skis and used to take his friends out.  Uncle Tom's personable, generous, and adventurous nature were a joy to those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

We will miss you Uncle Tom.

Tom took on the job of mowing the 2 acre lawn at the farm; that riding mower was his pride and joy. One day I found him stopped next to the lilac tree with tears in his eyes. The sight and smell of those flowers had taken him back 30 years to his mother and her grove.  He enjoyed the rosebush growing outside his bedroom window and was amazed when he counted over 40 blossoms on it.
Mickey and I took turns picking him up at the airport in Winnipeg; he would relate stories all the way home, over 200 miles, about the farmers he had dealt with during his years at Neepawa as we passed some of their farms.  He clearly remembered their names, equipment they had bought, and a funny story about the experience. 
Mickey would help him climb into a tractor or the combine to help with moving bales or the harvest, much to Carol's enhanced anxiety. He had the use of only his right hand and foot, but he managed like a pro. It made him so happy.  At the end of many of those days he would phone Carol and they would talk forever. He loved those times.
Tom made a point of enjoying his forced retirement, Carol insured that he did.   He was free to attend family weddings, century farm celebration, local fairs, threshermens' reunion, Ukr. festival, school reunion, JICase retirees' reunions.  He always came away with a neat story to tell about some of the unique people he had met or something he had observed that the rest of us were too busy to notice.  We have a treasure of memories; we will remember him with love. 

Christmas will not be the same without our annual glass of wine and happy conversation.  We will miss his warm smile and sense of humor.  Our thoughts and prayers to a good neighbor and great friend.

I always loved visits with Uncle Tom.  He always had wonderful stories and interesting perspectives on the world.

In particular I remember him as a person who inspired me to think more broadly and dream big!

He was a beautiful person and he will be missed.
