Mary Susan Morrison

Sue leaves behind two daughters, Suzanne Kennedy and Maura Yildirim, and three grandchildren, Ahmet Yildirim, Claire Kennedy and Pierce Kennedy. In passing, Sue joins her late husband Larry Goodman who died in 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 1:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 Hayden Road Scottsdale, AZ 85257.

Sue was born on November 27, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania to Joseph Frances Morrison, M.D., and Frances Sherrin Morrison. She grew up in Mountain Top Pennsylvania with her younger brother, Joseph Morrison Jr. and Sister Ann Bankoff (Morrison). As a child, Sue enjoyed ice skating and hiking in the beautiful mountains near her house. Some of her happiest childhood memories were going to work with her father and enjoying lunch with him.

Sue attended Misericordia University in Dallas Pennsylvania and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She married John McDonald in 1967, and the couple moved to Tempe Arizona in 1970. The coupled divorced in 1976, but had a good relationship as they raised their daughters together.

Sue took a position as a chemist with Motorola in 1977. She was later promoted to an engineering position and had a long and accomplished career working for Motorola and later Medtronic. While working and raising her daughters, Sue earned a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix and a master’s in electrical engineering from Arizona State University.

In 2001, Sue moved to Waltham Massachusetts and worked as a marketing manager with IBM and later a science teacher at Boston Latin High School. In Waltham, Sue met Larry Goodman through mutual friends and the couple were married in 2005. In 2006, Sue and Larry retired to Phoenix, Arizona where they could enjoy the warm weather and spoil their grandkids. In her retirement, Sue and Larry were active with their synagogue, Temple Emanuel of Tempe, and Sue loved to go on cruises and take a (reluctant) Larry to yoga classes.

Sue was a wonderful role model for her children and grandchildren. She was always generous, friendly, and welcoming to all. May her memory be a blessing.
