Our hearts and prayers are with you today, Jay, Emmy, and all your family.  We have such fond memories of fun times we had with Marlin and cousin, Elaine, over the many years, in Nebraska and Arizona.  Marlin was an admirable man and all who knew him thought so highly of him.  We who believe in God's promise, know that he is absent from the body, but face to face with our Lord and Savior.  Thinking of my cousin, Elaine, today and knowing God has His arms around her, even now.   Our love, Jan, Harold and our family.


I feel so fortunate to have known Marlin as principal at Pyrtle. He chose a great team of teachers which are still lifelong friends. We fondly  remember him in our times of reminiscing. He was always willing to support us as professionals to do our job and trusted us, a rare quality. His mantra was to “do what is best for kids.” Thank you, Marlin for the good you did in this world and for the  many lives you so positively impacted.  Wishing the family comfort and want you to know how much he meant to me and all the Pyrtle family. 

I remember Marlin when we briefly lived next door to him and Elaine in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Fortunately, we reconnected after many years when we both were reintroduced at The Nebraska Club in Sun City West, Arizona.  Marlin was always such a positive person and did a lot of good in this world.

It was such a great joy to work with Marlin at Pyrtle from 1968 until he retired.   We both had a special interest in golf and Husker football and fun making our picks during the bowl games.   He was always there to help us and make our time working together feel like a family.    My sympathies to Elaine, Jay and family.                                         Connie Compton Micek
