Laverne E. Arrowood – Terbush, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at the age of 96. She was born August 17, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. Her father, William Ephofen, worked for Fisher Body, a division of General Motors and her mother, Eva ‘Pat’ Ramsey, was a homemaker. The family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1935 where Laverne attended Central High School and then Memphis State College (now a university) and Draughon’s Business College. She married James Arrowood in 1946 and they had one son, Donald J. Arrowood. The Arrowood family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1956 to pursue her career where they resided for the remainder of her life.
After James passed away in 1997, she married Ivan Terbush and lived in Tempe, AZ for 14 years. Laverne worked as an executive secretary to J. Oliver Cunningham of the Oliver Corporation and Electrical Equipment of AZ for over 33 years and according to him, she kept the company running smoothly. Ever the secretary, she also kept up with the family affairs for his kids and their families for many years. They would all lovingly refer to her as their second mother to the date of her passing. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Diamondbacks baseball fan. Her favorite songs included Amazing Grace and In The Garden. Laverne was always very involved with her church. She will be remembered for her wisdom, willingness to help others, sense of humor and for cherishing her family and friends. Affectionately known as Nana, she was considered the rock of her family and will be greatly missed. Laverne is survived by daughter-in-law, (Don) Pam Arrowood, granddaughter, Tiffany Arrowood, and grandson, James (April) Arrowood, stepsons Richard (Patty) Terbush and Frank (Shirley) Terbush.
Services and internment will be at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, AZ on Thursday, February 4th at 11:00AM.
