Lara was determined to live life on her own terms. She had several health conditions during her lifetime but insisted she would not live in a bubble.
She was born in Glenwood Springs and grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley.
She was very intelligent; even skipping a grade in school. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a degree in Spanish and English Literature.
Following school, she ventured to Arizona and has resided there for the past 23 some years.
She had a successful career with Charles Schwab in the Phoenix area, working there since 2000 and earning her series 7, 8, 9, and 10 industry licenses.
She loved to sit in the sun or snuggle up and read a good book with her dogs nearby; she also loved to build snowmen and race down the hill in a sled in the snow.
As much as she would love to have quiet times at home, she also enjoyed traveling. Disney was always a favorite destination, and she recently found great excitement in swimming with a whale shark in an aquarium in Atlanta.
She had a quick wit and a wry sense of humor.
To Lara, one of her most important roles was that of being a mom. Her son Tyler was the light and passion of her life. Whether camping with the Boy Scouts, watching him learn to ski, cheering him on at Talent Camp, or just enjoying some cuddle time, he was her purpose and inspiration.
She is survived by her son Tyler; her loving parents, Evelyn and Bob McGill of Carbondale, Colorado; brother Brian McGill (Jen) of New Castle, Colorado, brother Travis McGill of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, her nieces Amanda and Leyna, other relatives and many friends in Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Ohio, and Florida.
A memorial service will be held in Glenwood Springs at a later date and Celebrations of Life will be held in Cave Creek and Glenwood Springs this summer at yet to be determined dates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to your local animal shelter or the Georgia Aquarium. Consider being an Organ Donor as well; Lara was a double transplant recipient herself.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresmortuary.net for the Moss family.
