James "Jim" Charles Daidone, a man larger than life and devoted to his family and friends, passed away on July 18, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona, following a rapid and brave battle with lung cancer. Born on May 25, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois to Phyllis Rita and Giacamo (James) Salvatore Daidone, Jim spent his formative years in Park Forest, Illinois, assisting in his father’s beloved local Bar & Restaurant, "Jimmy D's Pub".
Jim attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Crete-Monee High School before proudly serving his country as a submariner in the United States Navy from the ages of 18 to 20, stationed in Guam and Hawaii. In 1978, he relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona to be close to his family, marking the beginning of his illustrious career in the automobile sales industry.
Starting as a lot attendant, Jim displayed an unrivaled mastery of salesmanship that saw him ascend through the ranks, eventually holding the positions of Sales Manager and Finance Manager. His entrepreneurial spirit then led him to own and operate his own car dealership, "Mr. Jim's Deals on Wheels", before semi-retiring to cherish time with his loved ones.
Outside of work, Jim had an array of passions. He enjoyed the freedom of riding his Harley, the thrill of driving his cherished Dodge Challenger, the strategic finesse of poker, and the smooth taste of fine whiskey. He was an exceptional cook and grill master, and relished skiing, ATV rides, and the timeless music of the Beatles and Frank Sinatra. But above all, he cherished the relationships he fostered and took great pleasure in spoiling his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his sons, James (wife, Shannon) and Shaun (wife, Camie), and his grandchildren, Shelby, Charlie, and Zene. He is also survived by his brother, John Daidone (wife, Lynzie). He was predeceased by his sister, Laura Knaperek (husband, Robert).
A visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. This will be followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, a graveside service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, and a catered reception from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Jim's larger-than-life personality, his deep devotion to his family, and his unwavering friendship will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, generosity, resilience, and hard work will forever live on in the lives of his loved ones.
