A native of Arizona, he was born May 5, 1946, to Othelee & Velma Willbanks. Wayne was the third of four children. Shirley Pace, Linda Austin & Rita Johnston. He attended Carl Hayden High School graduating in class of ’64. Wayne enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1966 and served his country honorably for four years. Wayne married his High School sweetheart, Nancy Castle in 1970 and had Shawn Wayne Willbanks in December of 1973, their only child and joy of their lives. He began working in banking at Valley National Bank and became a business owner soon after acquring Newt Fogal Sales. The business continues to thrive being run by long time employee and best friend Jose Bonilla. Wayne was an Arizona sports enthusiast, an ASU season ticket holder and a dedicated fan of the Suns, Cardinals and Diamondbacks. He was an avid outdoorsman, snow and water skiing, hunting and fishing throughout his beloved state, and enjoyed golfing trips and touring around on his Harley with family and friends. He also enjoyed taking short trips to Hawaii and enjoyed island life. Wayne is survived by his son Shawn, his 4 Grandchildren (Ireland Ryan, Ryder Adam, Ireland Ann and Ivy Grace) and 2 Sisters (Shirley and Rita). Wayne was a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and integral member of both the Willbanks and Castle Clans. He took great joy in attending and supporting his family Church, the River of Life, and grew in wisdom and grace in his sincere faith. Wayne was a steward of the gifts God gave him and took care of his communities needs. He will be remembered for his love of life and his uncanny sense of humor. You are loved and will be forever missed; we have peace knowing that you are resting in the arms of Our Heavenly Father.
